This weekend was a new adventure for us... Lisa's childhood friend was getting married in Crested Butte, so went for the festivities over an extended weekend. We stayed in a small cabin in Almont, CO -- about 20 miles south of Crested Butte.
We didn't have much spare time, but did manage a hike to Judd Falls which is a little north of Mount Crested Butte and did some fishing. Kailee caught two rainbow trouts!!

A Surprise on the Trail
We were just hiking along - Lisa and I - on the trails of Rocky Mountain National Park, turned corner and ...surprise! A few moments later Lisa was petting the snout of this 400 pound elk.
Of course, I'm completely kidding. We were actually driving through RMNP and Lisa never got out of the car. It was still a pretty cool site.

Skysox Game - They won!

We had a great time at the Skysox game over the weekend. (The Skysox are the AAA-affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.) We were there with two other families from our church small group. After a 1 1/2 hour rain delay, we had some great weather. The kid's brought their own base/softballs and got them signed by Sox the Fox (the mascot). They also got a game ball tossed to them by the Sox's pitching coach and got two player signatures at the end of the game.
Finally, I participated in the chipping contest in the middle of the 7th inning. I had to hit a golf ball about 60 feet into the hole to win $20,000. I went long. But, it was certainly not a real golf ball - it felt plastic. Oh yeah, they won 8-1.

Lisa's Dad Visits
Hey! It's been awhile since our last posting, so hopefully this will be the resurgence this blog needs. Anyway... Lisa's dad joined us last weekend. He flew in by himself for 3 brief days to get a quick taste of his grandkids and checkout Colorado in the winter. That is if you can call consistent days in the mid-60's - the winter.
We practically killed him (and us) driving all around the area. First, Lisa took him from the airport to the Denver aquarium and the Air Force Academy. After a brief night's rest, we were off to Denver where we visited Red Rock Ampitheater (where U2's video for Sunday Bloody Sunday was filmed). This place has about 300 stairs -- who knew? After that, the hightlight - the factor tour at Coor's Brewing (did you know the make Blue Moon).
The next day we were up bright and early for church before a 200 mile road trip out to Breckenridge. Tip: Eastbound I-70 on Sunday afternoon during ski season is worse that westbound MD-50 coming back from the beach in July.
Here are some pics to enjoy:
